Nutritional Therapy is helping you become the best you possibly can be!
A Nutritional Therapist may be working with a healthy individual in order to prevent disease, or working with a sick individual to relieve and minimise symptoms of a developed disease.
Nutritional Therapy recognises that every person is unique and therefore has an individual set of dietary requirements. It is my job to establish whether or not a diet is right for the individual, or if it may be contributing to ill-health. If this is the case a nutritional programme will be designed to ensure that your diet is properly balanced.
Nutritional Therapy
- May help to play a role in the treatment of symptoms caused by an illness, and improve health.
- Often works with chronic conditions such as allergies, digestive and bowel disorders, hormonal imbalances and the overweight.
- Helps individuals to meet their health goals and also take responsibility for their own health.
- Take into account the unique dietary needs of each individual.
Why should I choose a CNHC and BANT Registered Nutritional Therapist?
The law does not protect the titles 'nutritional therapist' and 'registered nutritional therapist', which means anybody can call themselves a ‘nutritional therapist’ despite having very little training.
However, the professional body, Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), was set up with government support to protect the public. To be eligible for registration, nutritional therapists must have undertaken thorough training to meet the National Standards of Practice.
Members who register with the CNHC refer to themselves as 'CNHC Registered Nutritional Therapists'.
The CNHC provides a register of complementary therapists which has been approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. It is for this reason a number of UK professional bodies, including the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) will only accept members who have registered with the CNHC.
